TITLE: Technology Specialist
LOCATION: Urbana School District #116 School Buildings
HOURS: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
SUPERVISOR: Chief Information Officer
JOB SUMMARY: Provides customer service-oriented technical support for all District end-users (students, teachers). Working with other members of the technology department, handles the installation, maintenance, and repair of District hardware and software. This role ensures that teachers and students have reliable access to technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.
- Responds to end-user helpdesk tickets in a timely manner, escalating if needed
- Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software network issues
- Report and escalate critical IT issues
- Performs administrative duties for Windows, Mac and Chrome devices
- Performs administrative duties for Google accounts and Chrome devices within Google Admin Console
- Conduct training and provide technical guidance to staff and students on device usage, software applications, and digital tools
- Configures and deploys end-user devices
- Performs system imaging
- Maintain a fleet of Chromebooks, iPads, interactive displays, IP phones, multifunction printer/copiers, cameras, network and wireless hardware, and other IT infrastructure
- Assist with IT departmental projects and District wide upgrades
- Creates and maintains accurate and current documentation (FAQ, how-to, etc.)
- Discovers potential service problems by identifying patterns occurring across separate help desk tickets and customer reports
- Participate in the establishment, implementation, and enforcement of various hardware and software policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Support District IT initiatives in buildings including AI, VR/AR, digital testing and curriculum, interactive classroom instruction and others.
- Conducts District technology inventory
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Any combination of two (2) years of directly related work experience or college coursework that would provide technical knowledge in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining end user devices (e.g. laptops, desktops, tablets) and peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners) in a medium to large sized company environment.
- IT certifications highly desirable, but not required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong administration skills with Windows and Mac Operating Systems
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of computer best practices and system security principles
- Maintain an organized working environment
- Ability to effectively follow clear, detailed policies and operating procedures

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Chief Information Officer, using the District’s evaluation instrument.
NOTE: This position is not within the collective bargaining unit or an administrative position. This is a non-exepmt position. Salary range $21.63/hr-$26.44/hr dependent on expereince
