TITLE: Induction Coordinator
LOCATION: UECS(1), Elementary (1 per building), UMS (1), UHS (1)
SUPERVISOR: This position will be evaluated by the Director of Professional Development and the building principal(s).
STIPEND: This is a stipend position. UECS, Elementary, & Secondary will all earn a $1500 stipend.
JOB SUMMARY: Induction Coordinators provide instructional leadership and professional development tailored to the specific needs of the novice teacher, as well as experienced hires new to Urbana, in meetings held throughout the year. They also provide an extra layer of regular support and communication for all new hires, mentor teachers, and administrators in the building(s).
DUTIES:
- Plan and facilitate induction meetings for new hires in your building(s), with more frequent meetings scheduled at the beginning of the year and once per month at the end (the number of induction meetings will be assessed each year).
- Informally and regularly check with new teachers about their needs and concerns to provide an extra layer of support throughout the year (check-in meetings-monthly).
- In collaboration with other Induction Coordinators and under the direction of the Director of Professional Development, plan and facilitate at least one after school workshop in the Year 2 workshop series.
- Attend required mentor and teacher leader trainings as assigned.
- Attend New Teacher Mentoring & Induction Program meetings, including biannual coordinator meetings, annual Stakeholder meetings, and others as assigned.
- Work with the district mentoring program coordinators and mentors to ensure that new teachers receive excellent support through induction and mentoring.
- Attend and help facilitate New Teacher Orientation annually.
- Communicate positively and clearly with administrators, classroom teachers, and Central Office personnel.
- Introduce teachers to new research-based methods, materials, and instructional strategies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of induction meetings and make adjustments as necessary.
- Other duties related to professional development as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in USD 116 with positive performance ratings
- Prior mentoring experience preferred, but not required

- Ability to lead reflective discussions to support professional growth
START DATE: SY 2024-25
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.
NOTE: This is not a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. This position is exempt.
