TITLE: Family Liaison
LOCATION: King Elemenatry School
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning
JOB SUMMARY: Act as a liaison between the school/district and families, providing outreach and coordinating support services. Coordinate and implement family education and school involvement activities for all students (special education and students without special needs).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Provide outreach to parents of students and provide information about district programs.
- Assist parents in completing school paperwork, if needed.
- Communicate with teachers and office staff regarding family compliance with school district state guidelines for physicals, immunizations, enrollment forms, and attendance and follow up as needed.
- Coordinate with community agencies and follow up with student services such as vision, hearing, dental screenings, food bank, and picture days.
- Collaborate with the school social workers to assist families with community resources such as childcare, health, food, clothing, and housing needs.
- Maintain records of family contacts, parent attendance at family events, educational programs, and volunteerism.
- Supervise arrival/departure, bus loading/unloading, and parent/student drop-off.
- Supervise children during bus returns, communicate with families, and coordinate with community services for support.
- Coordinate and assist with special events such as open houses, field trips, on-site park district activities, etc.
- Participate in building committees such as PBIS, Crisis Team, and Parent School Improvement Programs.
- Coordinate with the kindergarten transition coordinator to assist students in transitioning to kindergarten.
- Assist or fill in for classroom or office staff as needed in special or unexpected situations.
- Assist classroom teachers with education and assessment of small groups of children as needed.
- Attend school family events and after-hours meetings such as Parent School Improvement Programs.
- Accompany social workers or classroom staff on home visits.
- Conduct parent education classes on the importance of education.
- Provide in-service training to parents/demonstrate how to assist their child with literacy and educational activities at home.
- Carry out any other duties the building and/or district administration assigns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of schools and education terminology
- Good computer and technology skills
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience and ability to work with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 hours per day; 194-day calendar
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated per provisions of the Board's policy on evaluating professional personnel.
START DATE: ASAP and for SY 2025-26
NOTE: This is not a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. This is a non-exempt position. Pay rate is $20.14/hr.
