TITLE: UHS After School Programming Teacher (Multiple Positions Available) Grant Funded

 

LOCATION: Urbana High School

 

SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the UHS ASP Coordinator, buiding administration, and Director of Grants.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function
satisfactorily:
1. Prepare creative and engaging lessons for day to day instruction and enrichment
activities.
2. Implement lessons in a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists
students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific educational goals.
3. Create a classroom environment that is welcoming to all students.
4. Collaborate with support staff assigned to the classroom to develop general classroom
procedures, goals, schedules, behavioral expectations and classroom activities for
students.
5. Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose a child to a
variety of learning experiences and broaden the child's perspective.
6. Implement appropriate assessments and document student progress as required by the
building administrator and the Grant guidelines.
7. Take daily attendance and complete other required documentation as assigned.
8. Review, develop, and requisition materials for the classroom.
9. Work in partnership with the Coordinator to plan and encourage family involvement in the
education of their children.
10. Supervise students as assigned by the Principal and/or program coordinator.
11. Perform any and all additional duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.

 

Minimal Educational Requirements:
1. Bachelors' Degree from an accredited college or university, with certifications and
endorsements as applicable.


Experience:
1. Classroom experience preferred.
2. Prior experience working in an After School Program, preferred but not required.

3. Bilingual desired.
3. Internal applicants only.


Licenses/Credentials:
1. Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.


Other skills and abilities:
1. Ability to assess students and knowledge of adolescent development.
2. Ability to communicate and work effectively on a collaborative team.
3. Ability to effectively work with students with a history of behavioral, social/emotional
and/or developmental disabilities.
4. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and responses.



Terms of Employment:
1. Daily 2 hours, four days per week.
2. Position is for school year programming only when the program is in session.
3. Attendance at an orientation meeting is expected prior to the start of this
program.


Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.

 

NOTE:
1. This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in
nature.  This position is non-exempt.
2. Position contingent upon grant funding.
3. Preference given to internal building staff and will be open to district staff to help fill
positions.
4. Hourly Position - $32/hour
